more piddling around...
From my initial understanding of the assignment, I decided to create an
appliance that I would like to have. A dream projector. The idea of
being able to project my dreams would be a curious thing. Dreams are
usually ours and ours alone, unless we so choose to share them, but what
if we had no control over it? What if our dreams projected themselves
for the world to see?

Hi Elizabeth
ReplyDeleteNot sure of the concept, but technically it seems to be working ok for you. try to use more vector tools- use the assignment to dive into vectors. but interesting composition so far. what kind of environment will the figure be place in and why is she a projector?
good luck,

ReplyDeleteSo to create this appliance I took a human profile face and attached bits of a film projector to the head to suggest that the items aren ow one to form a single purpose. The film reel runs through the skull (through the brain) and then out the other side while the face (now covered with lenses and projection lights) displays the images of the dream.
After seeing how other people are dealing with this assignment, as well as hearing you discuss it in class, I realised that my take seems to be...well, not at all what you're asking for.
I know it doesn't look like I have done much, but I've poured hours and hours attempting to figure out the pen tool and eliminate my use of trace. As much as I like the way trace looks, I know now that that is also not what you want us to do either. Some of my in process things aren't savable. I'm not sure how to prove my process to you...
OH! and as far as environment goes, i was thinking of using the background to create just a light to dark to help bring out the light beam that will eventually be emitting from the projection lens on her face. I'm still playing around with I'm actually capable of doing though...
